10 Best Vegetarian foods from around the world
Do you want to eat Vegetarian or Vegan food while you are away from your home ? Here are the 10 best vegetarian foods from around the world. If you are in following countries you must try these vegetarian foods :
1] Spain :
if you're a vegetarian and coming to Spain, I would probably be, "Have some patatas bravas! They are my favorite Spanish vegetarian dish."
Patatas bravas are super typical of Spain. I'd take my friends to a Spanish bar to get some tapas and a drink. Patatas Bravas are on almost menu at any decent bar in Spain. They are potatoes with a red sauce composed of tomatoes and pimiento dulce. We'd spend an hour or two drinking a coke, a Sangria, a Spanish win or beer and enjoying our tapas. My vegetarian friends could happily eat this.
Puran Poli - Do not miss the classical Marathi dish, Puran poli. It is a type of sweet flat bread and resembles a roti. The stuffing is made of chickpea lentils and jaggery. Its extremely delicious. You shall find this in any Maharashtrian restaurant.
3] Indonesia :
Indonesia has a lot of kind of dish, but I'll just choose that I like the most and mostly versatile across everybody's palate and not too exotic.
I would recommend gado-gado, it's basically a warm salad with peanut sauce. The only thing not vegetarian in this dish is a boiled egg (which can be omitted). Gado-gado is usually eaten by itself, or with rice/rice cake (locally known as lontong).
Char Kuey Teow- literally "stir-fried ricecake strips", is a popular noodle dish in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. The dish is considered a national favourite in Malaysia and Singapore. It is made from flat rice noodles (河粉 hé fěn) or kway teow (粿条 guǒ tiáo in Chinese).
5] United States of America ( USA )
Pizza/Pasta Italian places
Margarita pizza fresh mozeralla cheese tomato and basil simple and good. This is not very filling but good enough. Any other vegetarian named pizza. Remember pepperoni is NOT vegetarian. Any pasta ask for "no meat no fish". Usually there is at least one option in the menu. Go for places that serve freshly made pastas and cheese. Most good Italian places are not a part of big chain restaurants unfortunately these places are not cheap except the ones that sell pizza by the slice.
6] Chaina :
Chinese food list is mainly made up of vegetables. According to the data from Statista, China’s annual meat consumption per capita worldwide in 2013 is 107.6 lbs, which is half of Amercia’s. Thus, it’s good news for you, a vegetarian to visit China and eat vegetarian food here.
Jiachang Toufu
Maybe you have heard of traditional Chinese food Toufu, however, what I want to recommend to you is more than your imagination. Jiachang Toufu is a very typical home cooking and simple supper dish that you can easily find in most of Chinese restaurants. Toufu is deep fried in the oil firstly. And then add sauce, sugar and salt into the pot and stir-fried the fried tofu with green onion, onion and carrot chips. Trust me, vegetarians can simply omit the pork after eating this dish.
7] Ukrainian :
Ukrainian cuisine is vegetarian-friendly, although not so much vegan-friendly. That's because dairy is in almost everything. Ukrainian have the wonderful religious tradition of lent, when meat is not consumed.
here is Борщ (borshch).
The lent version would be meatless. Although this is often served with your cream. If you are vegan, ask them to serve it without sour cream, as it is added in the end and is not part of the cooking process.
8] California :
vegetarian Burrito: The charred vegetables, the mexican rice, the pinto/black beans. If you can eat sour cream, by all means add it to the list. This is a flavor explosion that is guaranteed to make your eyes roll back. There are several chain restaurants, but the best or either at the house of someone from Mexican heritage or from some of the tiny hole in the wall places
9] Japan :
perhaps shojin ryori (精進料理 )
It is often served in Buddhist temples, where meat eating is prohibited. The meal consists entirely of vegetables, beans, and grains.
While food served in a bunch of small portions like this is fairly common in traditional Japanese eatery, shojin ryori itself isn't commonly served in regular Japanese restaurants (to my knowledge anyways). You may need to specifically look for a place which serves if you wish to try a full course like the one pictured above.
10] Philippines :
When you mean by vegetarian, you mean dishes without meat or few amounts of meat, in Philippines.
Lumpiang Toge, Lumpiang Sariwa, Lumpiang Toge is a spring roll filled with mung bean sprouts, carrots, fried tofu, spring onions, and some sources include shrimp, if you’d rather not want any meat you can ask them to not include it. It also has patis or fish sauce. Usually it is dipped in vinegar with onions.
